Faced with a significant increase in passenger numbers, Copenhagen Airport’s Terminal 2, built in 1960, was extended to better accommodate the growing flow of travelers and optimize retail space. The terminal extension, covering some 4,000 m² on the second floor and a total of a further 3,000 m² spread over several levels, improved the user experience without impacting terminal capacity or operations. Despite the complexity of the project, the terminal remained in full operation during the entire construction period. In addition, fire safety conditions in the old structure were upgraded to meet current standards.
Artelia was commissioned to provide project management and complete engineering services for this turnkey contract. Our teams supervised the design, coordinated the technical systems (ventilation, electricity, air conditioning), and worked closely with the airport’s operational teams to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining a high level of comfort and energy efficiency.
Driven by our values of technical excellence, proximity to clients and entrepreneurial spirit, we are more than ever determined to be a company that is useful to the world and to people, and that contributes to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
