To meet the growing need for wastewater treatment associated with residential, commercial and industrial development, the City of Terrebonne launched a major project to build a new activated sludge treatment plant, adjacent to the existing aerated pond facilities. The aim of the project was not only to modernize the existing infrastructure for the next 10 to 30 years, but also to offer a scalable, sustainable solution. The new plant, designed to treat a daily flow of 80,775 m³, incorporates advanced processes such as biofiltration for odors, UV disinfection and high-performance sludge management systems, meeting the MELCC’s strict environmental standards.

Artelia was mandated to accompany the City through all stages of this strategic project. Our services included validation of the preliminary design using advanced modelling, preparation of plans and specifications, authorization procedures with environmental authorities, and in-office supervision of construction work. We also optimized the bioreactor design for maximum all-season performance, and integrated a collaborative BIM platform into the design. This modern plant represents a major milestone for wastewater management in Terrebonne.
