Our Dragon Boat team, known as the ” Ingénieux Castors “, concluded their competitive season last weekend by taking first place in their final 500-meter race at the Quebec Cup, held at Parc Jean-Drapeau in Montreal. This competition marked the end of our season, and our participants were very proud of the progress made and the level of performance achieved.
The Quebec Cup is the highlight of the dragon boat season, crowning the year’s champion teams. With three events per division – 200 metres, 500 metres and 2000 metres with turns every 250 metres – it was the perfect opportunity to bring the entire dragon boat community together one last time before the colder months arrive.
This last race was rich in emotions, and our participants had a great time, without expecting so many emotions and hilarious moments. The team completed six competitions in all, with a fine first-place finish on Saturday in their second race. During the 2000-metre races with turns, the waves created on the water made it difficult for the person standing at the front and the one sitting on a small chair at the back of the boat to maintain their balance. Both ended up taking it in turns to fall into the water, much to the amusement of their team-mates.
