The Pie-IX bus rapid transit (BRT) is a structuring, high-performance public transit project that now links Laval and Montreal via Pie-IX Boulevard between Saint-Martin Boulevard and Notre-Dame Boulevard. A major redevelopment project, the BRT Pie-IX is a 13-km-long infrastructure comprising reserved bus lanes in the center of the roadway, 20 bus stops (stations) and a real-time priority traffic light system. The BRT enables the bus services that use it to transport users more quickly on this major north-south route, and to take advantage of safe, universally accessible and comfortable facilities.

To meet the customer’s needs, our teams of experts carried out the services required for the development of the public domain, the upgrading of sewer and aqueduct infrastructures, the construction of pavements, sidewalks and bicycle paths, geometric redevelopment, in addition to the installation of street lighting, traffic lights and intelligent transport systems. Integrating these developments in an area of high vehicular and pedestrian traffic density was a major challenge for our teams. That’s why our Urban Infrastructures, Transport and Intelligent Mobility, Planning and Environment departments were mobilized to offer their expertise, which was essential to the smooth running of the project. Our Building team was also called upon to design (mechanical/electrical and structural) the new kiosks.
