Artelia was asked to carry out an environmental assessment for the expansion of La Prairie substation, a project designed to anticipate and support the growing power supply needs of Montreal’s South Shore, particularly in connection with the construction of the Réseau Express de Montréal (REM). Our experts had to measure the potential residual impacts of this project on the environment, the human habitat and the landscape, in order to highlight the ecological and social issues associated with this expansion.

To support this project, Artelia’s geomatics service was commissioned to develop precise and detailed cartographic products, integrating each stage of the environmental assessment. Our team produced location maps showing the project situation, the study area and the proposed substation configuration, as well as representations of the site’s natural and human components. Maps illustrating potential impacts and proposed mitigation measures were also created. In addition, visual simulations were used to anticipate landscape effects, ensuring a rigorous and transparent approach for a project that is essential to the region’s development.
