Granby’s Principale Street revitalization project aimed to renovate a 3 km stretch of the street in response to the urgent need to replace the water and sewer infrastructure, and the desire to transform the public space into a modern, welcoming place. This urban design project was inspired by the results of a citizen consultation and is based on four key principles: accessibility, user-friendliness, intelligence and attractiveness. It includes the creation of a two-way bicycle path, the development of green spaces, improved safety for users and the renovation of the street to encourage the integration of shops while enhancing the experience for citizens.

Artelia was commissioned to design and produce the plans and specifications for the revitalization of this major public space. Our landscape architecture teams put their expertise to work for the City, proposing innovative and sustainable layouts, incorporating solutions such as “structural soil” to encourage optimal growth of the tree canopy. We ensured coordination with the various parties involved, and carried out hydraulic capacity studies and site analyses. Our services also involved the preparation of detailed design plans, validation of urban design concepts, and quality management of the work throughout. Thanks to our holistic approach to urban design, we were able to create a harmonious, functional environment that met the needs of the community, while respecting the technical and logistical constraints of the worksite.
