Our team of building experts recently completed the renovation of the René-Veillet community center located in Longueuil. This project consisted of major work aimed at facilitating access for seniors and people with reduced mobility, and optimizing the activity rooms in order to promote better use for all citizens.
The René-Veillet Community Centre is a building built in 1972. The existing facilities were outdated and no longer met the needs of the clientele and the current requirements of universal accessibility. The project therefore aimed to improve the use of the building while contributing to the revitalization of the sector.
The mandate consisted of a complete interior refit, the upgrading of electrical and mechanical installations, as well as the repair of the building envelope. In addition, the construction of an exterior access ramp now allows people with reduced mobility to access the building in complete safety. The harmonious integration of vegetation between the landings of the ramp, done in collaboration with the landscape architects of the city of Longueuil, has created a visual link with the park and the adjacent public square.
For our building specialists, this project was a great example of a renovation mandate at its highest level: taking an old, inefficient building and proposing solutions to renovate the interior and turn it into a new, modern and efficient building.
Indeed, all the interior installations were redone. Our mechanical experts changed all the ventilation, heating and plumbing equipment, while our electrical experts focused on all the equipment for electrical distribution and interior lighting. The access control and the fire alarm were also modernized and brought up to standard and the mechanical room was insulated to be more secure and watertight in order to avoid corrosion in the building due to the chemical product of the municipal pool. Finally, our civil engineering experts worked on the exterior landscaping and worked closely with our electrical experts to modernize the exterior lighting and to do the necessary work for the installation of electrical charging stations in the near future.
This renovation of an existing building is perfectly in line with energy efficiency and sustainable development. Our building teams can be proud to have participated in this project, which will give a second life to the René-Veillet Community Center and offer all citizens a place that is accessible to all.
Driven by our values of technical excellence, proximity to clients and entrepreneurial spirit, we are more than ever determined to be a company that is useful to the world and to people, and that contributes to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
