Our lighting experts are reducing light pollution in Dollard-des-Ormeaux

After completing a rigorous analysis, our team proposed a solution featuring appropriate installation and proper photometry.

The City of Dollard-des-Ormeaux has commissioned our Transportation Lighting and Electrification Department to develop plans and specifications for modernizing the lighting at several of its sports fields. Thanks to our expertise, these facilities now benefit from more efficient and significantly better-controlled lighting.

The two soccer fields at Édouard-Janiszewski Park and the two baseball fields at Lake Road Park were previously lit by poorly arranged conventional fixtures whose light spilled far into residential streets. This situation created significant light pollution that disrupted the comfort of residents living near these parks and caused glare for park users, particularly during baseball games. To address these issues, the City sought to upgrade its facilities and fully convert the lighting systems to LED fixtures, enabling greater energy efficiency. After completing a rigorous analysis, our team proposed a solution featuring appropriate installation and proper photometry to meet lighting standards for a sports field, while respecting the environment, wildlife, and the night sky. Additionally, a curfew system was proposed to the City to ensure lighting is activated only when needed.

Our team therefore took charge of the entire project, including:

  • Demolition plans and specifications
  • Preliminary and final design
  • Construction plans and specifications
  • Technical support throughout the project
