In response to the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions, the construction of a new biofuel plant in Port-Cartier has been put forward. Located on the site of an existing Arbec sawmill, the facility is designed to transform residual forest biomass into 40 million liters of liquid fuel per year. By valorizing local, renewable resources, this project not only contributes to the energy transition, but also to boosting the regional economy.

Artelia was commissioned to carry out this ambitious project, bringing its expertise to bear at every key stage. We designed the plans and specifications, as well as managing procurement and construction. Our teams supervised the installation of process equipment, while ensuring quality control, works inspection and environmental monitoring. Thanks to our integrated approach, we also led the construction of a high-capacity wood dryer, chemical plant, and ancillary buildings, effectively managing contaminated soils to minimize environmental impact.
