The Avoca Bridge, located on Walker Road in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, is an iconic structure built in 1955, spanning the Rouge River. Over time, this steel-framed bridge has suffered significant damage due to wear and environmental conditions, compromising its load-bearing capacity and posing safety risks for its users. This repair project aims to restore and strengthen the structure while preserving its heritage character, thus ensuring a safe and reliable passage for motorists and road users.

Artelia has been commissioned to design and supervise the repair work on the Avoca Bridge. Work included replacement of the gratings and struts, painting of the structure, and concrete repairs to the abutments and piers. Our team also had to navigate particular challenges, such as the presence of lead in the paint, environmental restrictions related to nearby aquatic activities, and the need to comply with specific standards for heritage structures. Thanks to our expertise and collaborative approach, we ensured that the Avoca Bridge was not only repaired, but also strengthened for future generations.
