To ensure the safety and protection of its field teams, BC Hydro has decided to modernize its radio communication system. This large-scale project covers the Lower Mainland-Vancouver region and integrates a TETRA network, a first in North America. Long used in Europe and Latin America, this technology provides high-quality communications for public organizations, security services and sensitive environments requiring reliable, secure communications. The system guarantees extensive, high-performance coverage, both in densely populated urban areas and in the remote regions of British Columbia where BC Hydro operates.

Artelia has been commissioned to design and implement a cutting-edge TETRA mobile radio network for BC Hydro. The network comprises 25 base stations and over 800 terminals, providing reliable coverage throughout the region. Our team took charge of detailed engineering, coverage studies, project management, as well as supply, installation and factory and on-site acceptance testing. We also ensured commissioning of the system, as well as maintenance and the supply of spare parts, guaranteeing safe and optimal operation for all BC Hydro operations.
