The Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk (PPAW) wind power project will generate nearly 350 MW of electricity from wind turbines with towers reaching 110 meters in height. This production will be a major contribution to Hydro-Québec’s plans to significantly increase its wind power capacity, in line with its action plan “Towards a decarbonized and prosperous Quebec 2035”. Developed by Invenergy, a leading private company in the field of renewable energies, the project has been established through a strong partnership with local municipalities and a First Nations community. Not only will it generate royalties, but half of the wind farm’s revenues will be redistributed to the RCMs and municipalities, contributing to their development according to their own priorities.

Our team of geotechnical specialists was commissioned to carry out the geotechnical investigation for this project in the Lower St. Lawrence region. Because of the rugged, wooded terrain and the great distance between each site, drilling posed enormous logistical challenges. Winter conditions and the frequent absence of a cellular network added further complexity. Despite these obstacles, our teams successfully completed this demanding mission, demonstrating their expertise in managing difficult environmental conditions.
