In its desire to protect its ecosystems while supporting harmonious development, the City of Victoriaville has undertaken to update the inventory of its wetlands. This project, which was essential for reconciling urbanization and the preservation of biodiversity, aimed to better understand the ecological richness of the territory and to establish clear priorities for their conservation. With more than 120 wetlands identified over approximately 2.5 km², the City was looking to adopt a sustainable management plan, guaranteeing both the protection of natural habitats and the enhancement of local resources.
Mandated to support this approach, Artelia has carried out an exhaustive inventory of wetlands and flora environments, assessing their ecological value and identifying the vulnerable or invasive species present. Based on rigorous analyses, we produced a management plan that complied with environmental standards, while ensuring a balance between the protection of sensitive areas and economic development. Our support also included consultations with regional and provincial authorities, ensuring a robust, integrated plan, and widely accepted by stakeholders.
Driven by our values of technical excellence, proximity to clients and entrepreneurial spirit, we are more than ever determined to be a company that is useful to the world and to people, and that contributes to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
