Our colleagues in Sept-Îles have been commissioned to carry out inspections, surveys, and preparatory engineering work for the 2026 project on Dock No. 1 at Rio Tinto IOC (Iron Ore Company of Canada) with a view to ensuring the long-term viability of this important infrastructure for the next five years. Built in 1952, inspections of the dock could reveal major deficiencies. A detailed procedure for future inspections and maintenance work will therefore be put in place to ensure the long-term proper functioning of the structure.
For Artelia, this project is a strategic opportunity to demonstrate our ability to define and implement a detailed procedure that will ensure consistency in data collection methods and comply with the highest technical standards in the industry. Our port expertise is widely recognized on the North Shore, where we have contributed to the majority of maritime projects carried out in recent years. As part of this project, the seaward side, the embankment, and the anchors will be inspected, and data processing will be carried out by our team.
Our approach is based on efficiency, rigor, and complementarity between our organization and our partners. The majority of the project team, including our subcontractors, is based in Sept-Îles, which ensures in-depth knowledge of the environment, appropriate logistics, and high responsiveness in the field. Some of these partners are from the region’s native communities, with whom we ensure respectful and sustainable collaboration.
Since obtaining our preferred contractor status with Rio Tinto IOC a few months ago, we are delighted to see new contracts gradually coming in. In fact, we have also been awarded the contract for Dock #2 in Sept-Îles and various projects in Labrador. Now we have to deliver—and we are ready to do so for this important client!
Driven by our values of technical excellence, proximity to clients and entrepreneurial spirit, we are more than ever determined to be a company that is useful to the world and to people, and that contributes to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
