La Ville de Laval a confié à Artelia le mandat d’équipe maître, à ce titre, nous agirons comme conseillers techniques auprès de la Ville.

Our Major Projects in Alternative Modes and Water Treatment teams joined forces to win the master team (owner’s engineer) contract for the project to upgrade the solid waste treatment system at the La Pinière wastewater treatment plant, which serves approximately 75% of Laval’s population. In consortium with Réal Paul Architecte, the multidisciplinary project will also involve our experts in Building, Environment, Landscape Architecture, Urban Infrastructure, Materials Control, and Transportation and Smart Mobility.

With an average treatment capacity of 240,000 m³/d and peaks of up to 605,000 m³/d, the La Pinière wastewater treatment plant plays a central role in the City of Laval’s sewerage network. Commissioned in 1998, the solid waste treatment system needs to be upgraded to increase its treatment capacity and replace certain obsolete equipment.

The City of Laval has entrusted Artelia with the role of lead contractor, which means that our teams will represent and defend the City’s interests throughout the design-build upgrade project. In this capacity, we will act as technical advisors to the city, supporting it in making informed decisions at every stage of the process.

Our services cover a wide range of disciplines, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, telecommunications, automation, commissioning, and alternative modes such as design-build. They are structured in five main phases: document review, finalization of needs identification, drafting of requirements, support during the call for proposals, and support throughout the design-build period.

Towards complete sludge recovery and improved energy performance

With this project, the City of Laval aims to recover 100% of the sludge produced by StaRRE, not only in the current context but also with a view to population growth. To achieve this, the project plans to integrate anaerobic digestion, a technology that will reduce the volume of sludge and reuse the biogas produced.

Congratulations to all our teams involved in this major project! This project represents a great collective achievement and perfectly illustrates Artelia’s ability to mobilize complementary expertise to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions for our clients.
