The Sainte-Catherine Street East redevelopment project is gaining momentum!

This section of Sainte-Catherine Street East is one of Montreal's most iconic commercial and cultural thoroughfares.

Our urban infrastructure design team is back to work on the Sainte-Catherine Street East redevelopment project. Initially commissioned last year for the section between Atateken and Plessis Streets, the team’s main scope has been expanded by nearly 0.5 km: the City of Montreal has decided to extend it from Saint-Hubert Street to Papineau Avenue. The new plans and specifications will therefore incorporate this extension to the east and west of the initial segment.

Under the leadership of the City of Montreal’s Urban Infrastructure Department, in partnership with Civiliti, our teams were mandated to provide comprehensive and integrated services for the preliminary design, design, support, and supervision of the work for this major project.

This section of Sainte-Catherine Street East is one of Montreal’s most iconic commercial and cultural arteries. It plays a central role in the city’s economic, social, and tourist life, hosting a diversity of businesses, events, and communities. The redevelopment aims to improve the pedestrian experience, enhance the neighborhood’s attractiveness, and create a more inclusive, safe, and sustainable living environment. This project is also part of an ecological transition and a reappropriation of public space by citizens.

The main infrastructure targeted by the mandate includes sewers, primary and secondary water mains, roadways, sidewalks, bike paths, traffic lights, urban planning, geometric redesigns, and street lighting.

We congratulate our design team, whose expertise, rigor, and creativity have contributed to inspire the City of Montreal to think even bigger with this project.
