Our Geotechnical, Materials Engineering and Environmental experts recently completed supervision of slope stabilization works on Route 159 in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade. The purpose of this intervention was to secure the road infrastructure following landslides along the roadside.

As of 2024, worrying signs of incipient landslides had been detected on the shoulder of the northbound lane of Route 159, on the Charest River side. In the summer of 2025, a landslide did occur at the same level, but on the southbound embankment. Alternating traffic was then implemented to ensure the safety of users while avoiding complete closure of the section.

Given the urgency of the situation, the MTMD commissioned Artelia to carry out emergency work on an accelerated basis, continuing 24/7 and sometimes even in the evenings. Thanks to this rapid mobilization, our teams helped to secure the section and stabilize the two slopes on either side of the road.

As part of this mandate, our specialists carried out comprehensive geotechnical monitoring of the stabilization work, in addition to ensuring quality control of soils, aggregates, and asphalt mixes, and the proper environmental management of contaminated soils. This work was carried out in a complex environment, where each operation required increased vigilance to prevent any risk of destabilization.

By carrying out this emergency project with rigor and agility, Artelia has once again demonstrated its ability to respond quickly and effectively to protect essential infrastructure and ensure user safety.
