The Meder marsh, a fragile ecosystem located in the Coaticook region, required major intervention to preserve its ecological functions. Following the deterioration of its hydraulic infrastructure, the project aimed to reconnect the marsh to the Meder stream and maintain a stable water level throughout the year. This work ensured the sustainability of the plant and wildlife habitats, while enhancing the ecological and educational value of the site. This project is all the more remarkable in that it was the first to benefit from a grant from Quebec’s Programme de restauration et de création de milieux humides et hydriques (PRCMHH).

Commissioned to assist the Municipality of Coaticook Regional County, Artelia finalized the plans and specifications required to develop the marsh, ensuring compliance with technical and environmental requirements. Our services covered all the critical stages of the project: preparation of tender documents, analysis of bids, development of construction plans, as well as the integration of sustainable solutions such as a waterproofed wooden weir and energy dissipation basins. Delivered on time and on budget, this project is a showcase for our expertise in natural ecosystem management and ecological restoration.
